Northern integration remains on paper, analysts call for dialogue with Serbs in Kosovo

Integration of the northern part in the country's system is continuing to be a challenge for each Government in Kosovo. Although the ruling party, the Vetevendosje Movement, has promoted the idea of internal dialogue with Serbs in that part, this has not yet begun. The former chairman of this subject, Wisar Ymer, told Online Economy that this idea of VV should be maintained and implemented, while adding that this should not happen through force.

“I think that the Vetevendosje Movement is few of the political parties that have long had the idea of internal dialogue, and this internal dialogue between public institutions and minority communities, and especially the Serb minority, is the idea that it should be maintained and implemented because we have an extraordinary problem for the non-integration of northern Serbs within the framework of Kosovo's institutional political life, and in this direction I don't think they can solve it strongly but they have to solve it through dialogue and discussion<1.

Also, according to him, the whole situation has to do with the nearly comprehensive lack of institutions in Pristina, to have a more comprehensive approach to integrate northern Kosovo Serbs into the country's system.

The first contact with them was not to be the police, but the discussion, and I don't understand why Kosovo's prime minister makes no discussion as small as there is with Serbs living in the north. With their political and civil society representatives, and a big question is whether the Government plans for the north, and whether there is a plan for this public plan, do we know what we are going to do with the north, and most importantly, whether we have told the northern Serbs what we plan to do with the north, so what the Republic of Kosovo offers them in their welfare”, Ymer said.

Movement for the Union Chairman Valon Murati says problems with that part should be solved by political means, while adding that the opposite could have grave consequences.

He says reciprocity with Serbia operating for the country's north should also be applied to the Presevo Valley.

“I think Kosovo institutions operate at a very basic level in the north because of the tense situation that exists with Serbia and the north, and the problem in the north is a deep political problem and these by political means alone can be solved, and anyone who thinks otherwise errs, and the only chance to solve these problems is the” political agreements, Murati said, while adding that Kosovo should solve the problem with Serbia and implement reciprocity both in the north and the Valley.

While the security affairs connoisseur, Nuredin Ibishi, says the international factor should work harder and be related to central and local power with different projects, with the goal of integrating that part.

Whatever the two cases we saw, especially the reaction of Serb extremists driven by Belgrade to react to those actions, however, the second case in which a action was taken to combat crime and corruption, and this should not be done by police force but with the approach of the north side”.

“So these issues should not be subject to taboo, only when such shares are undertaken but a complete transformation of the north and Serbs to the Kosovo state lines should occur. The international factor must work and be related to central and local power with different projects, with the goal of integration”, he said. / EO/
