A military court in Myanmar, Asia, has sentenced American journalist Danny Fenster to 11 years in prison.
Fenster was found guilty of violating the immigration law, illegal association, and encouragement for disobedience to the military.
He was hired early this week on two additional charges of sedition and terrorism, which envision a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
His trial of the new charges will begin on 16 November, the BBC writes.
Fenster, 37, who was managing editor of the website Frontier Myanmar, was arrested at Yangon International Airport in May. He is one of dozens of local journalists who have been arrested since a military coup in February.
According to Frontier, Fenster had previously worked for Myanmar Now, an independent news page that has been critical of the military since the coup.
