Montenegro part of “Open Balkan”? Abazovic: Support initiative, positive impact on movement of people and goods

Montenegro's Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic says he is among the rare politicians in his country who support the initiative “Open Balkan”. Abazovic pauses and explains that the initiative has been presented no longer properly, but according to him the mini-sengeni will have a positive impact on the furniture of peoples and goods. The initiative cannot be powerful unless states in the region join.

Abazovic spoke of the Russian Serb influence in Montenegro, but also of the project he considers close to his heart -- the bridge over the Buna River -- a project that put him in five minutes with Prime Minister Rama, he says.

As for the assessment, under the title “Honoris causa” from Lugasi University, he said he feels extremely honored.

A great pleasure to me. Pleasure to meet my friend Driton Kuka. It shows that what we really do, someone sees and appreciates. We've been praised by a university and academic staff that I really appreciate. A big deal for me personally and for my family, as I hope I will best return”, Montenegro's deputy prime minister said.

You were a high school teacher...?

I was engaged as a lecturer and in high school and in Sarajevo faculty as a lecturer in political sciences. I always liked working with young people.

When I retire to politics, I'll probably go back to academic life. academic life is a kind of mental hygiene. And right now I do some scientific work. I hope that next year, in 2022, it will publish and a book that concerns globalisation. My interest was great.

Do you like working with young people, inspiring you or inspiring you?

That's my whole idea, to inspire the people, as it is, young people with a pro-European sense. Those who succeed in inspiring are successful, and those who do not inspire are not successful.

Montenegro has not supported “Open Balkan”, what are the reasons, you support it?

I personally support him, I'm the only one in the government. In Montenegro you know that political circumstances have been very difficult. Relations with Serbia are not at a very good level lately. That idea had been experienced as if it came from a president, and it's making a model that will replace European political models. That's how it was presented in Montenegro. I've explained that this model is wrong. The Balkan Open should not be substitutes, but a mechanism that has to accelerate regional processes and integration. If a better explanation is made in Montenegro, I am sure it will be supported and joined.

The purpose not to change borders, but to make them invisible. We want to eliminate administrative barriers to increase population and goods furniture. When the furniture grows, they themselves will break the barriers. When people eliminate prejudices that are the product of the conflicts that have occurred, I'm pretty sure the Balkan Open will accept it. If we have to be part of Europe, our behavior should be European.

Did I sound critical, especially in Kosovo?

The same rhetoric, the same attitude has been in Montenegro. I don't think so. I don't think Albania and Macedonia had participated in being an instrument of a state, but we should try a little better for communication regarding the benefits of that mode. As I suppose Kosovo, Bosnia and Montenegro, would not have that power. (news)
