As its name indicates, winter tires are designed especially for cold, snowy weather. Winter tires are of great importance for driving during the winter, whose season begins on November 15th and lasts until March 15th.
During this period drivers are obliged to equip their cars with such tires. Under the Law on Road Traffic Rules, Article 227 points first says that during the winter season, between November 15th and March 15th, vehicles and communities of vehicles participating in road traffic must have winter equipment.
Also, during winter conditions, motor vehicles and a community of vehicles that are not equipped with winter equipment are prohibited. Drivers who do not respect this article are being punished for their wrongdoing, with a fine of 40 (40) euros.
