On International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has commemorated the lost lives of women and girls as a result of violence against women. On the International Day of Elimination of Violence Against Women, we commemorate the lost lives of women and girls as a result of violence. Today we honor their memory and vow to fight violence against women. In response to the escalating violence and our institutions have markedly improved the legal framework with the recent changes in embracing the Istanbul convention. We've all advanced through definition of violence against women as a criminal offense in the criminal code. Initiation of drafting the new strategy for protection from domestic violence and women and the 2020/2026<x1 action plan, he said.
Prime Minister Kurti, during his speech at the opening of the campaign, 16 days of activism against gender-based violence against women and girls, said in these days, also called for deeper co-operation to prove zero tolerance for violence against women and girls.

Kurti stressed that fighting violence against women will be a priority of his government, where he added that education to prevent sexual harassment is the key factor for emancipation and protection that creates in young generations to respect each other.
The first government asked men to raise their voices for gender-based violence. He even demanded that men be a model at home.

“Education for preventing sexual harassment is a key element of emancipation and protection that creates in younger generations to respect each other, respect women [or women] ... The love of women is not a private matter, it is a matter of security, public, social and national protection of living and fundamental human right. I urge all men to be models at home and at work because they have an important role, it is imperative that men raise their voices side by side with women for gender equality and against gender-based violence”, Kurti stressed.
It has reaffirmed the necessity of economic empowerment programmes for survivors of domestic violence.
