Co-operation between Kosovo and Norway was the topic of today's meeting between Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Christine Melson, director for Southeast Europe from Norway's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Prime Minister Kurti said democratic changes at the beginning of this year have brought sweeping benefits.

We already have stability and legitimacy in our institutions, but also high civic credibility, which has contributed to increased investments, revenues and the economy, and as a result of increased employment. Citizens want development and justice, so these positive economic indicators must be accompanied by positive indicators even in justice, which should be effective”, he said.

The meeting discussed human capacity development and government plans for “brain conversion”. In this regard, Kurt announced Melson on the mechanism, which will establish Government “Excelsity Fund”, for which he also sought support.

At a joint meeting with the special representative for the Western Balkans, Arne S. Bjornstad and Norway's ambassador to Kosovo, Jens Erik Grondahl, also discussed the situation with the pandemic.

At a time when the whole region is experiencing a flood of new cases of coronarys, Kosovo is proving to have managed good pandemics, while maintaining both the health of citizens and economy”, Kurti said, adding that Kosovo remains the country with the highest rate of vaccine in the region.

Speaking of regional issues and dialogue, Prime Minister Kurti said Kosovo is contributing to peace and security in the region. He reiterated the commitment to co-operation and economic integration within the European agenda and with direct participation of the European Union.
