Nearly all the cancers in the neck are caused by viruses, and the hope is that the vaccine can eliminate almost the entire disease, reports the BBC, translates Periscope.
Researchers said the success meant that those vaccinated would have to run fewer cervix tests as well.
The neck cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women in the world, killing more than 300 thousand women a year.
Nearly nine out of ten deaths come to poor countries with little access to cervical cancer tests.
The hope is that the vaccine will have even greater impact on these poor countries than in rich states. /Periscope
