At a solemn session held today in Mitrovica, the new mayor of the Mitrovica municipality, Bedri Hamza, and members of the Assembly of the Assembly elected in local elections, which were held on 17 October.

In his welcoming address, Chairman Hamza has expressed thanks for Mitrovica's citizens for their trust, and in this context has reiterated the pledge of maximum commitment to creating and advancing the lives of citizens in this municipality.

Addressing the new members of the Communist Assembly, he has stressed that over the next four years, they will travel together in the best interests of the Mitrovica citizens. He said he would be open to all and would co-operate with all members of the KK, especially those with the welfare of citizens in the first place.

He also pledged close co-operation with the opposition so together they can pave the way for prospects.

He stressed that today is important for Mitrovica and its citizens, while the election process called it an example of the culture and democratic behaviour of the Mitrovicas.

Hamza said happy if in the future all along, beyond political beliefs, they will deepen institutional and political co-operation for Mitrovica and for the greater good.

According to him, the citizens' faith is sacred to him, and he points out he will try to keep them from ever disappointing you.

“Today is an important day for our municipality, for you as elected representatives and for all citizens of Mitrovica. We are gathered today after an election process that was an example of the culture and democratic behaviour of the Mitrovicas, as well as the common value of all of us here... I am happy if in the future all of us beyond our political convictions would deepen institutional and political co-operation for Mitrovica and for our overall good. Political beliefs, party affiliations, are values of diversity that Mitrovica represents and are values of our democracy. ... "I will govern transparently by co-ordinating and co-operating with you, because you are the most articulating voice of the citizens of Mitrovica. I will be in service to all citizens and will firmly protect their interests and our municipality. ... The trust of the citizens is sacred to me and I will try never to disappoint them. The development programme 2021-2025 that I presented during the election campaign is public and is my guide from today on, during the entire government mandate”, Hamza said.

He cited economic development and employment, education, youth culture and sports, health and social well-being, urban development, public services, infrastructure, emergency etc. as the main pillars of his development programme, which he said would accomplish during his term.

Hamza also spoke about Albanian residents of the northern part, with whom he promised continued aid and finalisation of all their homes during the four-year term.

“As chairman of Mitrovica in co-operation with the central level I strongly believe within this mandate we will be able to finalise reconstruction of all houses burned in the northern part of Mitrovica”, Hamza said.

Bedri Hamza was elected chairman in the first round of elections held last month, while today's solemn NKK session -- which consists of 35 members, of whom 14 of the PDK, 11 of the VV, 6 of LDK, 1 of AAK, 1 of AKR, 1 of the DP and 1 FED -- led the older member, Fadil Veseli, who succeeded in their work over the next four years.
