German Ambassador to Kosovo Joern Rohde has spoken of the idea of the Open “Balkan”, where he said that until this process undermines the existing processes, we cannot be critical of them.
However, Rohde said the six Western Balkan countries are geographically linked, therefore should work together because they cannot change neighbours.
We don't see the results yet. But since such processes cannot undermine existing ones, we cannot be critical of them, but the main question is that you have six Western Balkan countries that are geographically connected and have to work together because you can't change neighbors, you can't change your family, so you have to get the best out of this”, Ambassador Rohde said.
But, following, Rohde said he has not yet seen concrete results of this idea.
It's hard for me to talk hypothetically. I have not yet seen any concrete results of the Balkan Open”, Rohde said at Kanal10.
“Kosovo, Bosnia and Montenegro, they have expressed their concerns about this initiative. At the Berlin Process you have concrete examples, this summer we've had “the removal of Rwaming” tariffs, a major achievement, we have “green turnovers where we haven't achieved a major progress in part due to the blockade between Kosovo and Serbia for ID cards”, Rohde added.
Open Balkan (Open Balkans) is the name of the agreement created by Prime Minister Edi Rama, Serbia's prime minister, Aleksandar Vucic and Macedonia's Zoran Zaev, aimed at removing borders and bureaucracy between Western Balkan countries, to benefit the movement of goods, services and capital
