EU welcomes restoration of customs terminal in Trepca, calls for Government

Through a Facebook post, the EU encourages Government to transfer other existing customs terminals to public-owned environments.
“we welcome the news that Prime Minister Albin Kurti has recently inaugurated the new object of internal customs terminal in a public-owned facility, as in Trepca. We encourage the government to shift other existing customs terminals into public-owned environments. Such a move is a progress made in meeting recommendations for the customs chapter in the EU enlargement package and the Stabilisation and Association Agreement”, said their announcement.
However, the EU has called on the government to lift the tariffs trucks are charged to pay off customs duties when entering internal terminals.
“However, we call on the government to lift the accompanying tariffs being charged to each truck to pay off customs duties when entering domestic terminals, as they are not in line with the SAA and create additional barriers to trade for httpx1> businesses.
While Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said the return of this facility is the first step of fulfilling their pledge so that by the middle of next year, state customs terminals can be extended across the country.
