EU criticised for stalled dialogue, greater US involvement required

The lack of concrete results in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, with the European Union's mediation, has prompted the demand for greater involvement in the dialogue of the United States of America. The failure of this week's trilateral meeting in Brussels is considered a procrastination of the dialogue process and the lack of EU commitment to the Serbian side for [...]
The EU's goal, according to dialogue process connoisseur, is to create a peaceful environment in the region through dialogue. He says of KosovoPress, that the EU should be more serious in dealing with dialogue themes and having a more powerful implant. This, as he says, is in co-ordination with the United States
“The EU is wanting to keep dialogue alive to create a more peaceful environment. This is the EU's final goal as it is seeing and moving step by step to create a peace. Failure is showing that the parties are not interested in solving the problem, dialogue is made to solve the problem not to escape... The EU should be more serious about the topics, and the same should be long-term. We are repeating that this way cannot develop dialogue between the two hostile states. We needed a stronger implant...
The US key to the final process will be inevitable again. From my point of view, the process will be imposed by both sides, as it is seen that without a compromise neither side is taking the first step. The same belongs to Serbia because of the damage and crimes it has committed in Kosovo”, he says.
The US's biggest involvement in the dialogue process is seen as welcome for Kosovo, researcher at the Group for Jury and Political Studies Arber Fetah.
“The US's always imposing is welcome for Kosovo, but the US official line is the leader of official dialogue is the European Union. I believe that Kosovo can do more, in the sense of proactivity, to get closer to the U.S. in attitudes and have as much unification on dialogue with the American side as possible. Given that the US has clear views neither of Kosovo nor of its citizenship. Even Mr. Biden's letter shows that the Kosovo-Serbian dialogue should end with mutual recognition. Any approach to the United States and essentially has mutual recognition and paid tribute to Kosovo”, Fetah says.
On the other hand, Professor Arifi, wants Kosovo's biggest lobby with international partners for concluding the final agreement between Kosovo and Serbia.
According to him, even future high - ranking meetings will not produce anything concrete.
If the meeting occurs again we have the same themes, the same approach will still come out, because there is no solution. Therefore, the Kosovo side must say Serbia is the problem in the Balkans, but still does not have a political decision as in the EU as in Washington as they approach Serbia. But we don't have time to wait, we have to push more aggressively to our partners on how to get the dialogue over quickly. In Kosovo's best interests is to end dialogue as soon as possible, as other problems are being accumulated and Kosovo's development is loss”, Arifi adds.
During the two days of this week, Kosovo's deputy prime minister -- at the same time as chief negotiator Besnik Bislim -- remained in Brussels, but is managing to have a meeting with counterpart from Serbia Petar Petkov.
The differences in the agenda of discussion prevented the meeting, where the director of the Office for Kosovo in Serbia's Government, Petar Petkovovic, asked to be discussed establishing the Association of Serbian municipalities in Kosovo, but this was flatly rejected by the Kosovo side.
Therefore, the two delegations held separate bilateral meetings with the European Union's special representative for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajqak. / KP/
