The Dutch journalist is mistaking the Greek prime minister: When will you stop lying?

Greece's prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, had a severe clash Tuesday with a Dutch journalist at a press conference about Greek government policies against immigrants. The journalist accused the Greek prime minister of “of narcissian abuse” during his conference with the Dutch colleague in Athens. “Prime Minister Mitsotakis, when, finally, will [...]

Serbian Prime Minister Mitsotakis, when, at last, will you stop lying? Lying about the return (of MPs), lying about it is happening to refugees in Greece?”, addressed Dutch journalist Ingeborg Beugel, Greek prime minister.

It was referring to group claims on human rights and organisations like U The UN's NHCR that Greece illegally is turning asylum seekers back to Turkey to its land and maritime borders, although Greece has denied this, Reuters writes, the Express broadcast.

There has been overwhelming evidence and you continue to deny and lie. This is narcissist abuse. Why aren't you honest? Why don't you say: “Brussels, leave us alone, we waited six years, nobody did anything. Now I mean, yes, I do cruel, barbarous (immigrants) returns”, the journalist added.

The Greek prime minister defended his government's policy, calling it harsh but fair, and said Greece has saved hundreds of people since 2015, when it was in front of the immigrant crisis in Europe.

I understand that in Holland, you have a culture of spreading direct questions to politicians, which I respect very much. What I won't accept is that in this office you insult me or the Greek people on charges of expression that are not based on material facts”, he replied.

Mitsotakis said authorities are obstructing boats at sea in accordance with EU regulations and that they have given asylum to 50,000 people, including “Thirty thousands of Afghan”. The journalist interrupted him by saying the conditions are terrible.

Clearly frustrated, the Greek prime minister replied: “Look, you will not come to this building and insult me. Am I very clear about this?

This is our policy, we'll stand behind it and I won't accept anyone who points his finger at this government and accuses him of inhuman behavior”, he added.
