In July of this year, United States President Joe Biden has nominated him for US Ambassador to Kosovo Jeffrey M. Havenier. The announcement was made by the White House.
Today, he has been confirmed as ambassador to the American Senate.
“Jeffrey M. Hovenier from Washington, Senior Foreign Service member, the District of the Minister-Consulent, will be the extraordinary and almighty ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Kosovo.
The nomination vote is scheduled for the Senate Executive Calendar on October 19, 2021. The nomination was accepted by the president on July 13,2021, the Senate's announcement said.
Hüvenier is a career diplomat of the American foreign service who has been part of the United Nations Special Envoy's staff for the status of Kosovo.
Hüvenier has been the deputy head of the US Embassy mission in Ankara, Turkey. He also served at the US Embassy in Berlin, as well as in US missions in Croatia, Greece, Panama, Paraguay and Peru.
In Washington, he has carried out the duty of Director for Central and Southeast European Affairs at the National Security Council and the State Department Bureau for European and Eurasian Affairs responsible for NATO and Central European Affairs.
In June 2018, former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci had decorated the diplomat Hovenier with the Jubilar Presidential Medal of Independence.

While the US diplomat, Jeffrey Havenier, had declared that the American stance has always been in favour of Kosovo's freedom and independence.
“I will always be a friend of Kosovo”, Havenier said.
In the position of ambassador to Pristina, he will oppose -- the current ambassador, Philip Costett.
Through a post on the social network, Titter, Ambassador Costett had wished Havener for the nomination to serve as US ambassador to Kosovo.
