But who is Jeffrey M. Havenier?
The president of the United States, Joe Biden, named diplomat Havenier for the post of Kosovo ambassador in July.
He is a career diplomat at the State Department, who recently served as deputy ambassador of the United States to Ankara in Turkey.
From August 2018 to July 2019, he has been in charge of that embassy.
Earlier, he was deputy head of mission duty and minister of political affairs at the American Embassy in Berlin, Germany.
It has also served in missions in the United States, Croatia, Greece, Panama, Paraguay and Peru, at the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSBE).
Hovenier has experience in Kosovo, after serving on UN Special Envoy for Political Status Martinti Ahtisaari's team.
In 2018, former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci honoured Hovenier with the Jubilare Presidential Medal for the 10th anniversary of Kosovo's independence, “for his contribution to Kosovo's freedom and independence”.
During the medal-giving ceremony, President Thaci thanked the US diplomat “for contributing to the Rambouillet Conference in Vienna's process and in the process of Kosovo statehood”.
“I will always be a friend of Kosovo”, diplomat Havenier was expressed.
If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Havenier will replace Ambassador Philip S. Costnett, who was appointed by former President Donald Trump in July 2018, was confirmed by the Senate in September and began his post as the fifth US ambassador to the Republic of Kosovo in December of that year.
In Washington, diplomat Houvenier served as Director for Central and Southeast European Affairs at the National Security Council and the Bureau of State for European and Eurasian Affairs responsible for NATO and Central European Affairs.
