The study also indicated that 67 percent of British residents wrongly believed that the government had allowed Jewish immigrants in the country when, in fact, the British government had closed the door for all after the outbreak of war.
When residents were asked about Kindertransport, an initiative set up between 1938 and 1939 to save nearly 10,000 Jewish children, 76 percent did not know what this historic effort was, reports The Guardian, Periskopi.
An organization that had conducted a similar study last year with young Americans between the ages of 18 and 39 found that 48 percent of them did not know the name of any concentration camp or ghetto established during World War II.
