The Central Election Commission has started distributing the key material for the second election round. Among them are the ballot papers for tomorrow's election. From the QNR headquarters, under the Kosovo Police's escort, materials will be sent to commissioners' warehouses in 21 municipalities.
Central Election Commission spokesman (KQZ), Valmir Elezi, said that in the mayoral elections, 1 million and 136 thousand and 150 ballot papers have been printed for 21 municipalities.
“Following the planning, the Central Election Commission made the distribution of the main electoral material, which also includes ballots for different Kosovo municipalities. This material of particular importance, under the Kosovo Police's hand, has been sent to the warehouses of municipal commissions, in 21 municipalities where the second round of mayoral elections will be held. Under the CEC's decision, the 21 municipalities' election for mayors has been printed 1 million and 136 thousand and 150 ballots. Even for these elections, fewer ballot papers have been printed, about 10% or about 125 thousand ballots less than the total number of voters belonging to these 21 municipalities. This is a practice followed even in past election processes”, he has said.
Furthermore, Elez says there are about 2 thousand and 450 people with special needs expected to vote tomorrow, including 80 mobile teams.
“The Central Election Commission (KQZ) will engage 80 mobile teams, the number of registered citizens with special needs is about 2 thousand and 450, of which about 1,000 and 550 are voters who cannot leave their homes due to physical or health disability, while 899 are voters who are in surveillance in homes designated for elderly, prisoners and detainees. The Central Election Commission (KQZ) will also enable citizens who unfortunately are infected with COVID-19 and who because of measures that cannot be made out of seats to vote. Fortunately, the number of active cases with COVID-19 is low and therefore the number of voters from this category.”, Elez adds.
The second round of municipal elections will be held tomorrow 14 November in 21 Kosovo municipalities.
