EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Joseph Borrell has discussed with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti today in the Paris Peace Forum margins for regional co-operation, the fight against corruption, and the urgent need for progress in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
Borrell has written on Twitter that they have also talked about the European integration process, the upcoming meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council for the Western Balkans and important bilateral engagement.
The political situation in the Western Balkans has become the most challenging “ “in recent months, with the deepening political crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina, tensions in northern Kosovo and interparty divisions in Montenegro “paralyzing the country's political system, said in a document that will be discussed at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels on Monday. The document, prepared by EU High Representative Josep Borrell's cabinet, estimates that <x3-doms dispute between Western Balkan partners hinders the implementation of regional integration”.
The document also stresses that when it comes to relations between Serbia and Kosovo, that the atmosphere about dialogue for normalising relations between Serbia and Kosovo is “still challenging” and that no further progress has been made in some recent months. ”
“Piles should be encouraged to engage constructively and achieve positive results, including regional agreements for the common regional market, and refrain from unilateral actions and divisive rhetoric, especially in relation to Kosovo's north”, the document says.
