The march began in Heldenplatz, where about 1,300 police forces urged demonstrators to put on masks, but the call fell on deaf ears.
Protesters carried Austrian flags and banners making fun of Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg and Health Minister Willfang Mueksten.
Then, the clash with the police, which has not yet been known how many people have been arrested.
Protests against the measures against Avid-19 have also taken place in several cities in the Netherlands.
