An armoured vehicle color scandal: Why such an action?

Defence Minister Armend Mehaj appears to have caused another crack in Kosovo's reports with the United States of America with a strange request extended on September 18th at the time of the October 17th election campaign for local elections. According to Albanian Post sources, Minister Meheha had been looking for them [...]
According to Albanian Post sources, Minister Meheha had unofficially asked the commander of the Kosovo Security Forces, Gjundman Rama, to paint four armoured vehicles given to Kosovo by the US in blue.
All of this was being done at the time of the October 17th local elections campaign, which the ruling party would still lose.
Police action would then take place in the north, which by many local opinionists was seen as the use of state assets for party benefit.
KSF commander is already taught to be in the dismissal procedure, as he had flatly refused to comply with the request to Minister Mehaji with the reason that such was a violation of the US government agreement.
But the minister had insisted on painting these vehicles to make it appear that they did not belong to the Kosovo Army, and had exchanged messages with the US Embassy military attaché in Pristina, Stephen Rose, who had also flatly refused and announced the case to the American State Department.
The blue-and-blower chase of armoured vehicles is believed to be in service of the election campaign, especially in Mitrovica, where Vetevendosje's candidate was Agim Bahtiri. This would increase the impact on Kosovo citizens.
“Pantagon has made it clear to the KSF command that, if Minister Mehej's request had been accepted, it would have been considered a serious violation of signed agreements and all weapons and vehicles would have been pulled back.” { writes Albanian Post in the case.
Even the US has reacted officially with a diplomatic note, openly demanding that the military vehicles donated to Kosovo not be used by anyone other than the Kosovo Security Forces. /Periscope
