Idrizovo's prison in northern Macedonia is one of the most notorious institutions of punishment suffering across the Western Balkans, even accepted by Prime Minister Zoran Zaev. In 2017 he visited the facilities of this prison and expressed shame that he was prime minister of a country where prisons are outside all human standards.
The lack of water has been caused by repeated strikes there, while there is a penalty for some Albanians who participated in the Kumanovo events in 2015, where 22 people were killed during the clash of this group with police and army.
