About 550 thousand pounds of food and drink products have been eliminated this year by the Food and Veterinary Agency
AUV spokesman Lamir Thaci for Online Economy said that the main focus of this institution is the preservation of food safety, while saying that any product that fails to meet the consumer criteria will be eliminated.
During our official field checks, even by consumer reporting or even by business operators for products that do not meet the market conditions, we have eliminated about 550 thousand pounds, food products and drinks, so over the year and so far, and that figure from day to day. Any product that does not meet the legal criteria for consumption, that product leaves the market and is destroyed in the presence of Food and Veterinary Agency inspectors”, Thaci has declared.
The “depending on the type of product is subject to control of the competent field inspector who controls”, he said.
Thaci has made it known that for cases of extermination the Pristina Community leads for various reasons, but says other cities are not exempt.
“Of course the largest number of businesses is in Pristina, but this goes proportionally, but differences are in the country over years and for different reasons because the nature of food control is complex and over years in different periods, there are products that differ in the statistics from extinction. Of course, other regions also differ, because there are many factors that affect a product in certain cases not to meet the consumer criteria, and it is destroyed”, Thaci said.
The biggest statistics on extermination are from the Sanitary Inspectorate, where drinks and different kinds enter, but that annihilation is also done by various sectors, such as products of animal origin and phytosanitary sector.
And we actually have the largest statistics from the Sanitary Inspectorate, where drinks and different types enter, and then we have about 50 thousand pounds that are destroyed by the veterinarian sector, where only animal-born products enter, and by the phytosanitary sector, we have some kind of waste of liquor. Of course, we have financial material and other materials for protecting plants”, he made it known.
Thaci has made it known that increasing the number of inspectors has contributed to increased frequency of controls for different sectors.
