One earthquake was measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale and recorded in the Duzce area at a depth of 7.9 miles [7.9 km]. The quake's epicentre was about 200km from Istanbul, followed by a series of slightly weaker but still strong earthquakes, with magnitudes of 4.9 and 5 on the Richter scale.
