Before Sunday, there had been no death-free day from COVID-19 since August 2nd 2020, according to a report by the national broadcaster NHK, writes Reuters.
COVID-19 cases and deaths have marked decline throughout Japan, as vaccines have increased to cover more than 70 per cent of the population.
Japan has recorded over 18 thousand casualties from COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.
To cope with a possible recovery this winter, the government plans to begin strengthening vaccines next month and is working to provide pills-based treatments for easier cases to reduce hospital stays.
