The mortar remains of these seven victims were found in the mass cemetery in Kizevac, Serbia. Several mortore remains of the two victims had been found earlier in Rudnica, Serbia, and joined the other mortar remains that were found in Kizhevac.
The rehumation of seven victims took place after the Institute of Legal Medicine conducted necessary examinations. The funeral ceremony was organised by the Government Commission for Missing Persons and the Skyright Community.
The mortar remains of seven Albanian civilian victims returned to Kosovo on September 30th, and they were handed over to Kosovo authorities at the border crossing at Merdare.
On the day the mortore remains were restored, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti declared from Merdar that the massacre of Rezalla “is one of the evidence of Serbia's genocide in Kosovo”.
The victims were from the village of Rezalla, where on April 5, 1999, 98 people were killed in the massacre in this village.
Hundreds of Albanians killed by Kosovo have been found in mass cemeterys in Serbia, who were borne by Serb forces to hide crimes. So far, remains of around 1,000 people have been returned from Serbia to Kosovo. About 1,600 people, mostly Albanians, continue to be missing.
