People lined up in front of cafes and shops that opened at midnight on Monday especially for this occasion.
Many others have enjoyed the reunions and visits envisioned at the homes of relatives and friends.
Rules against COVIID-19 had halted family visits and travel across a five-mile zone by dividing many families, reports the BBC, broadcast Klankosova.tv.
But most restrictions have now eased for people entirely vaccinated.
People can now share food together in re-opened cafes and restaurants, and visit gyms, libraries and pools. There were long lines for barbers and nail salons Monday.
The Sydney blockade began at the end of June after an explosion of the Delta version began, leading to over 50,000 infections and 439 deaths so far.
