The budget for 2022 is 220m euros, or 8.7 percent more compared to this year's revised budget, the news says.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, after adopting the draft budget for 2022, has said that if Kosovo continues to have a 10 per cent budget increase, Croatia will be approaching.

But Kosovo has had continued economic growth over the years.

By the end of 2014, the Government of Kosovo had approved the 2015 draft budget worth 1 billion of 576 million, or 8.1 percent more than in the preceding year (2014).

The then prime minister from the ranks of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, had promised that reforms would be made with this budget in the economy, while he predicted that the 2015 boom will be over 4 percent.

By the end of 2015, the Government of Kosovo had approved the 2016 budget worth 1 billion and 674m euros.

The then government had said that Kosovo would continue with its positive paces of growth.

In 2016, Kosovo's Assembly had also approved second readings for 2017 worth over 2 billion euros, or 326m euros more than in the preceding year.

It was also Kosovo's top budget since the post-war, while the government had promised greater budget division for capital investments and had promised economic development and job openings.

For 2018, Kosovo's Assembly at the extraordinary session had adopted a budget of 2 billion euros and 82m euros in second reading.

Finance Minister at the time Bedri Hamza of the ranks of the Democratic Party of Kosovo had declared that this budget would ensure stability of the country's economic growth, support of economic activities, growth of capital investments, etc.

The growth trend has continued in 2019, where the Kosovo government had approved the budget of 2 billion and 370m euros.

Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj from the ranks of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo had declared this to be Kosovo's largest and most developmental budget by that year.

In 2020, Kosovo had scored little budget decline, where it had approved the budget of 2 billion and 357m euros. The 2020 budget was approved for first reading at the end of 2019 because of the situation with COVID-19 in the country.

Kosovo's then prime minister from the Vetevendosje Movement ranks, Albin Kurti, had asked MPs for the budget to be approved earlier due to the situation in the country's spread of the COVID-19 virus, and such a requirement had been accepted by Kosovo Assembly MPs.

By the end of 2020, Kosovo's Assembly had approved budgetary divisions for 2021 on second reading, with a budget of 2.4 billion euros.

The budget for 2021 had been named weaker than the previous years, with 300m euros in decline in revenues due to the effects of COVID-19.

On the other hand, two days ago the Kosovo government led by the Vetevendosje Movement has adopted the 2022 Budget Bill with a budget of 2 billion and 748 euros.

According to the Minister of Finance, Labour and Transfers, Iron Murat, this budget is 220m euros, or 8.7 per cent more compared to this year's revised budget.

Murati has declared that this budget is aimed at consolidating the economic revival after COVID-19, as well as sustainability of public finances, reorienting the economy towards production and export, and supporting employment and sustainable development.
