Sanchez has said that during this greeting with Kurti they have also discussed the work of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, and that he has encouraged the parties to find an agreement that is in line with international law and would be acceptable to both sides.
“I have had the opportunity to welcome the prime minister and say that we welcome the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade and encourage both sides to find agreements that are in line with international law and that both sides satisfy”, Sanchez said.
While speaking of the decision to have Spain participate in a Sam where Kosovo is, Sanchez has said it is unthinkable to miss a Sam where 26 EU member states participate.
Can you imagine Spain was missing at this summit when there were 26 other member states? We should be in debate to give our opinion,”, Sanchez said.
Meanwhile, for participating in Sam and greeting Kurt, Sanchez has received criticism from Spain.
The Popular Group's spokeswoman at the Spanish Congress, Pablo Hispan, has said that the decision to participate in Sam is a new “understanding” of the Spanish Government's foreign policy, while stressing that by such action the state position Spain has held for a decade.
Hispan says Sanchez has surrendered. The criticism at Sanchez's address has gone to the other Spanish politician and members of Congress, Pablo Casado.
