Serbia's former prime minister, Nikola Sainovic, says the appointment of the new US ambassador to Serbia, Christopher Hill, and conversation with him can more easily clarify what the American government's intentions are in the further course of Kosovo dialogue Serbia. He sees that the treatment of Ambassador Hill warns detailed activities by the American administration of Joe Biden in the process.

Sainovic says Hill is a diligent and professional indictment and that he is well informed of the situation.

When such a man comes as an ambassador today, then in a conversation with him you can't start from formulating “you know”, but with the formula “sic you know”, because he was there and diplomatically he knows the facts”, Sainovic told “ovo Online”

He stressed that Hill understands what his government's policy is, that this is the basic characteristic of an ambassador and that the personal factor is not crucial, but that Hill's speech can explain more easily what the American government's intentions are in the course of further dialogue.

We will soon see what happens after his arrival. The general impression is that the US administration immediately wants detailed and extensive activities, because otherwise Hill would be an adviser, and would not replace the existing ambassador who is currently in Serbia”, he said, broadcast Express.

Sainovic said he knows Hill well personally because, as he said, they had co-operated during the conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina, preparing the Dayton Agreement and after Dayton for implementing that agreement, and later since 1997 on problems between Kosovo and Serbia.

He said that Hill had two political activities, in which the inevitable and foremost, included the long-term application of President Ibrahim Rugova with the Balkan butcher who led Serbia, Slobodan Milosevic.

Because Milosevic and Rugova did not speak directly, Hill conveyed messages from each other, and so did documents on the draft of self-government in Kosovo called Hill 1, Hill 2, and Hill. He worked hard and co-operated in establishing a concept of self-government in Kosovo, which, along with the education agreement, would be an important factor of stability”, said Sainovic.

In July 1998, however, America changed its course, left Rugova, and approached the KLA.

This is illustrated by the Holocaust meeting in late June and early July, in the village of Junik with KLA members, and Hill was there. This was seen as a great global sensation America is moving to their side. Politics had changed, all talks on self-government and education were halted and American support for The KLA had begun. Hill got involved and worked on it until the beginning of the war. So we have it in two different tasks”, Sainovic said.

He also stated that after appointing a new team for the region, US President Joe Biden cited the Western Balkans as one of five regions representing an area of his particular interest.

In line with that, said Sainovic, Beden appointed an entire team of five, ambassadors to Belgrade, Sarajevo and Pristina, and two advisers -- Gabriel Escobar and James O'Brien.

The “these five have been present in this region for a long time, including BiH and Kosovo, because it is clear that these two issues are a set, regardless of their specifics, as both are vital for the stability of the Western Balkans”, Sainovic said.
