Sali Berisha announces candidacy for DP chairman

Sali Berisha has officially announced his candidacy for chairmanship of Albania's Democratic Party.

Berisha made that known by Kavaja at his Speaker's meeting with the Democrats.

Albania's former prime minister called on the Democrats to gather firms for maintaining the DP's National Assembly and declared that one of the candidates in the race for party chairman will be himself.

I want every delegate to Kavaja, every delegate to the National Assembly to sign for the Assembly meeting, sign for constitutional changes, turn the statute into the book of our freedom and dignity rules, sign to install the priorities, sign the referendum as a direct form of your government, your decision making, to sign, of course, to open a race in which I guarantee that everyone entering that race will have a free race. Of course, one of them will also be Sali Berisha”.

I believed that the Democrats are natives, are people of ideals. I believed in honesty. I was in a fight for dignity. That battle was also for you who trusted me. I was going all the way. I knew that you were burdened with various forms of pressure. I knew the government and the hostage were doing everything to be discouraged. I knew you were women and men you didn't sell. I had it all and I wasn't wrong. Let's become a real hurricane of free men to save Albania “.

For weeks, within the Democratic Party there has been a clash between Sali Berisha and President Lulzim Basha, after he was expelled from the democratic parliamentary group because of the “non granta” from the United States.
