Zakharova said this decision “will have no consequences for their judicial status”.
“We assume this step of the Pristina administration will have no consequences for the judicial status of the diplomats named Russian”, she said.
Russia called on the UN mission in Kosovo, UNMIK and the NATO-led international peacekeeping force, or KFOR, to react.
Zakarova called the “deliberate approval” this decision, and in favour of, as he added, the western project of the Government of Kosovo, “which is pursuing an aggressive policy directed against Russia and its constructive role in the Balkans”, broadcast Express.
“call U NMIC and international forces in Kosovo, within their competencies in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1244, ensure the security and conditions needed for the normal work of Russian office staff in Pristina. We expect adequate written guarantees from the UN administration”, Zakharova said.
According to Zakharova, announced officials non grata are accredited by UNMIK.
Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has announced on Friday that during this week she had asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to declare <x0.>non grata” two Russian officials working at the Russian Federation Liaison Office in Kosovo, stressing that their “activity has violated national security and constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo”.
“This week I have requested from the deputy prime minister, at the same time Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspore Donica Grovalla-Schharz, to announce persons non grata two officials of the Russian Federation Liaison Office in Kosovo because of their harmful activity, which has violated national security and constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo. Today, the MPJD has made the decision to declare these two Russian officials undesirable and at the same time has announced the legislative institutions and relevant authorities for its implementation”, Osmani's statement said.
Shortly after that decision, Russia's embassy in Serbia reacted with a statement stressing that Russia does not recognise these Kosovo actions.
“We do not recognise Kosovo's independence, so we do not recognise their government or other structures. No Pristina decision has legal powers for us. We are co-operating with the UNMIK mission, including these issues, based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244,”, the Russian Embassy's statement in Belgrade said.
