According to the first draft reports from Free Europe, the European Commission will reiterate the stance expressed even earlier that Albania and Northern Macedonia have met all conditions for launching membership negotiations.
As far as Kosovo is concerned, the European Commission finds that after a period of political instability, the government has now been formed in an unprecedented majority. But the circumstances created by instability and the consequences of pandemic have influenced progress in implementing reforms to be limited.
Progress-reports are expected to be approved by the Commission College on Tuesday and will be presented to European Parliament deputies, by Oliver Varhely, the EU's enlargement commissioner.
Of all countries in the region, the European Commission will require more efforts to fight organised crime and corruption, build good neighbourly and regional co-operation, and a particular focus on rule of law. /A2/
