Protesters took to the streets after the armed forces removed civilian power, arrested political leaders and declared the emergency situation Monday, the BBC writes.

It is reported that soldiers have gone from house to house in the capital Khartoum to arrest protest organisers.

The international community has condemned Pucci in Sudan. The United States blocked the country's $700 million aid.

Pucci's leader, General Abdel Fattah Burhan, blamed the political fight for military action. Civil leaders and army leaders have been at odds since former President Omar al-Bashir was ousted from power, about two years ago.

On Monday evening, a large number of protesters took to the streets of the capital and other towns of Sudan to seek the return of civilian power. A wounded protester told reporters that the army has shot him on foot near the central command.
