Party reactions following initial results

After the local elections in Kosovo closed, political parties have held conferences to discuss the results.

Vote counting has already started, and the Central Election Commission has started publishing preliminary results in real time.

PDK: First results very positive

The Democratic Party of Kosovo said that based on the first information they have received from observers on the ground, the early “results are very positive” for this party, but that this subject expects the same to be confirmed by the Central Election Commission.

The deputy chairman of this party, Vlora Citaku, at a media conference, thanked citizens, as she said, the high democratic and political culture is going out and voting civilizedly for our four-year future of”.

Gashi: Satisfying Results for LDK

Democratic League of Kosovo electoral staff chief (LDK), Arben Gashi, said the result thus far from local elections is satisfactory for this party.

Gashi at a media conference said the LDK has an impressive result.

The Democratic Order of Kosovo is in a run-off in the Pristina municipality and in the Podujevo municipality. The final score is in the ballot boxes. I call on all commissioners and observers throughout Kosovo to administer the electoral process correctly”, Gashi said.

The Vetevendosje movement has reacted following the closure of the deployments across Kosovo.

Through a Facebook report, the VV says the will of citizens is found in the ballot boxes.

Haradinaj: AAK has marked the best result

Alliance for the Future of Kosovo Chairman Ramush Haradinaj said his party, in the 17 October local elections, has scored the best result.

Our data says we won six municipalities: Gjakova, Suhareka, Rahovec, Kline, Decani and Unik. We also go to a run-off in at least one municipality, it is Istog”, he said, and added that they have noticed vote increases for his party in other municipalities as well.

The coalition of nongovernmental organisations, Democracy in Action, said that there were no serious incidents in local elections that could compromise electoral integrity or credibility.

Eugen Cakoli from DnV at a media conference said there were more violations in rural areas, either of anti-commercial measures, but they have also seen people standing near polling stations.

“In the northern part of the country, the voting process has flowed smoothly and there has been no incident that could violate the integrity of the election process”, Cakoli said.

According to Central Election Commission data (KQZ), 166 candidates have been certified for Kosovo mayors.

In the race for asmblists in all municipalities, 5,198 candidates have been certified.
