Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has spoken at the United Nations Security Council meeting, discussing the Secretary General's Report on the UN's Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo.
President Osmani has said it is an honor for him to justify 22 years after the war Kosovo at the UN, as she once viewed this meeting as a refugee.
I've been hearing UN meetings for the fate of our nation 22 years ago until I was a refugee from the Army of Serbia. 22 years later as president, I have the privilege of representing all my people. I am able to stay here because of the dedication of our people and to see our country free, independent and sovereign”, she said.
Osmani said Kosovo will one day be part of the UN.
I want to say good thanks, thank you from the people of Kosovo. Our story is not finished and our potential is not over. One day we will join you at this table as part of the UN. Our sacrifice has been too great to go back”, Osmani said.
On the other hand, she said institutions in Kosovo are working to return economic welfare to the country.
Kosovars today believe we have equal involvement and we are working to turn expectations into reality. Trust in institutions has never been higher. Kosovo has been one of the most democratic states in the region. We have doubles in GDP”, she said.
She then added that the story about Kosovo is the story of her people.
Political relations, I hope, reflect on economic existence. Besides having vaccine management in Kosovo, Kosovo not only is vaccinating more recently, has passed the region and some EU states. Kosovo is in a period of reforms for rule of law. The story about Kosovo has always been the story of the people of Kosovo”, she said.
In this context, she mentioned gold medalists, Distria Krasniqi, Majlinda Kelmendi and Nora Gjakova.
“Today is the story of our three females, Majlinda, Nora, and Distria, our three gold medalists. And Fahrije Hoti in the movie, in “Sundance” It is also Vasfije Krasniqi, the survivor of violence in the war. And so is Saranda Boguyevci, who is deputy head of the Parliament. From Lipsa to Rita Ora, and also to academics and scientists. Our country is a demonstration of peace, and our soldiers also serve in peaceful missions. In the midst of major crises, our institutions have opened the doors to the citizens of Afghanistan as confirmation that we are willing to stay with our Aletats. As a former refugee, no one understands their suffering better. I demand that we keep our minds and hearts open for Kosovo”, she said.
On the other hand, Osmani demanded that UNMIK complete the mandate, and the UN spend its money better.
“U n NMIC was founded 22 years ago under difficult circumstances, at the time of crimes against humanity and genocide against the people of Kosovo. Kosovo's final status has been defined permanently on February 17th 2008, and the independence declaration has been in full compliance with international laws”, the president said.
There has been no provision of international laws, and we tell Serbia to respect international laws. Kosovo is sovereign and independent and of high prosperity, and UNMIK has not only extended the mandate but is at odds with the JND. I invite the OBK to make better use of the budget. Even though Kosovo is not a member of the UN, it is a world security champion. Kosovo people are international in their hearts”, Osmani said.
