In his address, the US representative has been short, saying the US has welcomed the license agreement for the license plates, and also saying this agreement is a step forward for both countries.

According to him, the UN mission has not played a role in resolving the license plate issue, and this is being assisted by KFOR, so it has declared that UNMIK must complete its mission in Kosovo.

“wants to begin by welcoming the agreement on the license plate issue between Kosovo and Serbia, which has mediated Lajcak. This agreement is a step forward for Kosovo, Serbia and stability in the Western Balkans. This is evidence that when leaders engage they can find solutions that benefit the citizens of both countries. We encourage the two countries to continue this and respect preliminary agreements and also continue dialogue. Dialogue remains the main platform for resolving unresolved issues and stabilising relations, finally reaching an agreement for mutual recognition. U n The NMIC has not played a role in the issue of license plates, and resolving this issue with KFOR's support has shown that other organisations can play this role better. U n NMIC has completed its mandate and we must understand this reality and move towards its closure. The UN can still play important roles in implementing democracy in the region, but this does not require peacekeeping mission in the region. The US wants the Council to close the mission so that we can have the next presence so that Kosovo can realise its full potential. The US remains committed to maintaining stability in the Western Balkans and will work closely with partners to maintain rule of law.”, the US representative said.
