“We are all member states of the European Union, which means we are tasked always to try to find a compromise without giving up our principles,” told the media after a meeting with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Crome in Brussels, Reuters reports.
“I think it's time to speak in a more detailed way with the Polish government how to overcome problems,” she added.
Merkel noted that the European Court of Justice should decide on cases from time to time, but she also added that she was concerned about the number of cases ending before the EU's highest court at the moment.
