No party in the 26 September elections won the necessary majority, but the SPD narrowly defeated Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservatives for the first place, the Guardian reports, translates Periscopi.
The tight election outcome paved the way for small party negotiations with both the SPD and the conservatives.
The green “made the proposal to keep the first negotiations with the SPD... we agreed,” said the leader of the team. FDP, Christian Lidner.
