The American chief diplomat reiterated the vow he had originally made months earlier for the reopening of the consulate, which was the basis for diplomatic extension among Palestinians before being closed by Biden's predecessor Donald Trump in 2018.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister Yair Lapid, and United Arab Emirates Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Blinken did not mention any date for the reopening of the consulate, which would strain the reports with the new Israeli government.
