Latif: October 17th Election Results to Be Different From February 14th

University professor Blerim Latifi expects the October 17th election outcome to be different from that of February 14th, where Albin Kurti and VVâte received over 50 percent of the vote. He says these elections are a test for Albin Kurt's government. Latifi expects the four largest parties in the country to win the main municipalities.

The local elections are another dimension of the democratic process in society, where people actually place more emphasis on candidates who race for mayors of municipalities, but also candidates for municipal assemblies”, says Latifi.

When the prime minister is involved in local elections with a discurs involving major issues, of course, it will have some kind of effect on the election outcome, but I don't think it will have a big effect”, he stressed.

I don't believe that with the problem of the north someone could get votes in Kosovo, this way Ibrit. Because we need to know that the north of us is considered a kind of burden, it is a huge burden that lies on the back of the state of Kosovo, on the perspective of this state. It is not a very positive topic that arouses high emotions”, Latif stressed.

I don't believe that with the north, the less dialogue someone could get votes in local elections, which of course constitute a big test for Mr. Kurt. We have an ideal opportunity to see if the Kurti government continues to have such great support that they had earlier this year when they won”, the professor added.

Many indicators suggest that the February 14th result will no longer be repeated in these elections, even though the VV has entered the process with firm confidence that October 17th will be a February 14th resolution. Vetevendosje will not be what will win this election. The four major parties will win in different municipalities, but will be a very different result from the outcome of February 14th”, Latifi stressed.
