In his address at the plenary session, Kurti said that over three years have passed since the European Commission recommended visa liberalisation for Kosovo for the second time, the prime minister called on sceptical leaders in the EU to accept progress in Kosovo and abolish the visa regime for Kosovo citizens.
Over three years have passed since the European Commission recommended visa liberalisation for Kosovo for the second time. I call on skeptical leaders in the EU to assess progress in Kosovo and abolish the visa regime for our citizens”.
He has stated that the Slovenia Summit should also be mentioned “Facing the past”
We welcome today's joint statement, but we have expressed some reservations.
1. We believe that when we refer to the Western Balkans we need and we have to say the Sixth of the Western Balkans, as there are six states.
2. We believe that it should be mentioned “confronting the past” as it is a necessary part of the reconciliation effort.
3. We also believe that this Sam should condemn the Serbian Army's commitment to the Kosovo border: The MiG-29 combat planes flew along the border, while Russia's ambassador to Belgrade went to the border point to inspect the collection of Serb troops there”, Kurti has said.
Albin Kurti's full speech:
Dear ladies and gentlemen,
Honourable Grace,
The Republic of Kosovo has a democratic government and has institutional stability.
As a new government, about 200 days in office, we have had to deal with two major challenges: management of pandemic and assistance to overcome the difficult situation with less damage.
Business circulation is up 36% compared to 2020 and 21% higher compared to 2019. At the end of August, we marked an increase of 31,000 new jobs compared to the first level of pandemic. Government revenues are higher for 35% compared to last year, and this has happened without changing any single tax policies.
We have launched the Economic Resurrection Pack in size of 6% of our gross domestic product aimed at helping businesses and the economy create new jobs, assist families affected by pandemic, strengthen our institutions and public services and invest in modern and sustainable infrastructure.
The Economic and Investment Plan can help our region generate sustainable growth and achieve some of our strategic goals. For our country, water and energy security are key elements. It also needs investments that would integrate the region through infrastructure, both physical and digital.
I personally submitted a report to Mrs. President Ursula von der Leyen, with the need for investments when she was visiting Kosovo, and we expect in the future to engage with the EU, but also with the EUI, the BERZH and the World Bank to consider opportunities to advance those projects.
More than three years have passed since the European Commission recommended visa liberalisation for Kosovo for the second time. I call on skeptical leaders in the EU to assess progress in Kosovo and abolish the visa regime for our citizens.
There should be no EU funding for the six Western Balkan states without EU values. The EU in the Western Balkans must be cultivated from within, not imposed. We have to embrace EU values in our countries, but, to that end, we also need help from abroad.
We welcome today's joint statement, but we have expressed some reservations.

On 15 June during our meeting in Brussels, I have proposed to the president of Serbia to sign the Peace Declaration for Non-Aggression, but he refused to do so.
Thank you.
