Prime Minister Kurti said there will be no salary increase, despite significant price hikes, adding that the economy does not function with salary increases in electoral campaigns, as has been done by past governments.

During a joint conference with Agriculture Minister, Prime Minister Kurti said the vision of this government is for a stable agriculture and, as he stressed, are committed to promoting new investments.

The executive head said he has responded to the demand of producers for the state to help by subsidising half the interest.

Our “Vision is for a sustainable agriculture and agro-industry that offers abundant and safe food to the citizens of the country. In line with our government programme and with our vision of the economy, we are engaged in boosting investments in new production and exporter capacities. We've responded to the manufacturer's request that the state help out by subsidizing half of the interest, for subsidies of 20 per cent of the investment loan. The producer that invests, for example, 500 thousand euros in capacity expansion, will receive even more than the interest he pays, more than 100 thousand euros”, Kurti stressed.

The prime minister has also said they have found the Agriculture Ministry with 40m euros in financial obligations to farmers and will start 2022 with zero financial obligations.

Until he said that after eight years without strategy, his government has already drafted one for agriculture development for 2021-2027.

“Support does not stop there, each producer could benefit up to 130 thousand more euros on subsidising investment to increase product quality and expansion in new markets. Enhancing productivity and developing agriculture are best developed with the support of merit farmers... After eight years without strategy, the Government has drafted its agriculture and rural development strategy 2021-2027... We have found the ministry with 40 million (euro) duty to farmers in the subsidies category that we have addressed. With the new government's new budget, 2022 we will start with zero financial obligations to farmers, while the support, which for a calendar year amounted to over 50m euros, next year will grow even with 11m euros in additional budgets for local producer farmers and producer”, Kurti said.

Agriculture Minister Faton Peci, meanwhile, introduced the plan for agriculture development, as it became known that the application for new subsidies would take place in the first quarter of 2022 and the process is expected to close in April.

Agriculture Minister Faton Peci said that through actions undertaken, it has enabled that in 2022 budgets for the category of grants and subsidies will reach 60m euros, while the declarations of relevant programmes will always be announced in the beginning.

“We have supported the first drafts for measures and rural development programme, which will open for application in early 2022. In the future, we will give priority to increasing the capacity of the collection points for each under the sector. Growth in the support of cereals, treesmen, permafrosters, and farmers. As well as the realisation of an analysis of subsidies and grants interconnection so that investments in the Ministry of Agriculture reflect increased quality, economic development and increased production and processing capacities”, he said.

At this conference, Prime Minister Kurti has also talked about rising salaries and the Law on Salaries. For the latter, it declared that the Government is preparing for this law not to be in circulation with the Constitutional Court.

“We are preparing for a Law for the wages that really are the law and which does not conflict, nor with the general legislative infrastructure in our state, nor in opposition to our constitution nor to the proper act of Constitutional Court. It is not easy, designed, compiled well, and soon such a bill. But we're already engaged in this. In general, it is our belief that in a state, in a society wage growth should not follow political arbitraries, current governments, but productivity within economic growth. This was wrong in previous governments because it was ignored. Governments earlier have increased wages with electoral promises, but the economy doesn't function as well. So the economy doesn't function with salary increases in election campaigns like it did in the past. With us, in the months and years to come salary growth will follow productivity growth within economic growth”, Kurti said.
