Kurti said Kosovo's economy will approach Croatia: Is that possible, according to experts?

The 2022 Kosovo government's draft budget, worth 2 billion and 364m euros, was approved yesterday. From this budget, Prime Minister Kurti showed the main objectives, saying it will be comprehensive and spending categories will be set for salaries and additions. After adopting the draft budget, the country's Prime Minister Albin Kurti appeared in [...]
Following the adoption of the draft budget, the country's Prime Minister Albin Kurti appeared at a media conference from which he said the budget has not been approved earlier, until he added that the country has economic growth although a price hike of elementary products has been reported in recent days.
Kurti, with optimism, said the country's economy is expected in the next 10 years to draw close to Croatia's, thus raising numerous reactions on how this will manage to happen in view of slow economic development so far.
The ominous warning of price increases is intended to drive panic, economic growth has occurred to us that citizens think about the future, and more think of saving than spending. Kosovo's opponents have the interest of citizens not spending but saving, today the main news they fear is substantial economic growth. You know what it means if we continue for 10% growth, we'll get close to Croatia. Therefore, it is extremely important and never significantly stressed the economic growth of Kosovo”, Kurti said.
And this, according to experts in this field, is difficult to achieve and can't even be achieved for the next 10 years.
Mustaf Kadriy, professor of economics in a proposal for Metro newspaper, described these statements as irritating and offensive to the citizen, as leaders continue to make such statements but offer no concrete solutions.
E Kurt was not the only one according to Kadrijaj who had made such comparisons, remembering other leaders who usually received almost the same examples.
These statements are equally offensive to the citizen for the fact that when they don't offer solutions make these comparisons, we can remember that even leaders before Kurt have issued these statements claiming to make Kosovo Switzerland of the Balkans, so Kurti must carry out the duties imposed by law and Constitution. There is much work to be done before comparing Kosovo with Croatia, starting since improved business-making environments, employment, economic well-being, education, etc. There is no common characteristic with the state of Croatia, as in the number of residents, economic structures, education level, Kosovo has no access to the sea, so even the voices of economic growth vary both in structure and quality, but even if we do not mean that Croatia's state is the story of success in the fact that Croatia's citizens are among the peoples who abandon the country by emigrating into Western Europe, the US and Canada”, Kadrija told Metro.
While Lulzim Beqiri, also connoisseur of economic issues, said Kosovo has seen solid economic growth, but this is not enough to compare with large states.
But he added that Kurti has made this comparison perhaps because of the desire to have economic growth the same as Croatia.
The good news is that for the first time, the state budget is greater than 2.7 billion euros, and this brings hope for an economic recovery after a major crisis with the divider-19, then the next energy crisis and price hikes. Kosovo is experiencing a solid economic growth that has not been expected, but we are still far away from the countries of the region as the country's prime minister claims. I think that Prime Minister Kurti's strong desire to raise the country economically has been compared to Croatia, which I saw in the context that Croatia has had a good economic growth this year and that I think the prime minister has behind the point, however we still have work to do to achieve sustainable development as the countries of the region do, so we still have to work hard to achieve them, which is not impossible. Croatia has an extremely large budget and has a stability of economic development in the past 10 years and I think it's a good example for us as a state to follow closely by taking good practices from this country so that we can one day be like Croatia”, Beqiri told Metro.
Government budget for 2022 has been set out to target economic revival consumption, economic orientation to production, and much else.
