In symbol of Germany's Union Day
The German friendly people today mark the 31st anniversary of the German union. The movement for unity began from below (by a massive civic movement). The folk slogan “We are the people! ” (grind. “Wir sind das Volk!”), will quickly be changed to calling “We are a people! “Wir sonin Volk!” The German political elite understood the spirit of time. It gave the legal way the historic chance for reunification in peace and freedom, without war and bloodshed. The 10-point programme for the unification of two Germanys by Chancellor Helmut Kohl, presented on November 28, 1989 before Bundestag, was realised on October 3, 1990, in an atmosphere of joy and tears, celebration and understanding. The establishment of Germany's union process under the principle of self-determination and as a continuation of united Europe presents the high art of understanding the integrating spirit of time.
On October 3, 1990, the German flag set free in Berlin's Republic Square. That's where it flows today. German citizens took a free breath, saw the Berlin Wall, saw the border and ideology separating them. The fall of the Berlin Wall created a moment of freedom and enthusiasm, not only in Germany, but throughout the world, especially in us Albanians. This day the German nation took its rightful place in Europe, Europe broke the ideological wall, and the world ended the Cold War.
In fact, Germany's union was realised through the high political accountability of all participants, as well as the awareness of the economic and social success of post-World War II Germany. The reunification also came as a result of Germany's excellent diplomacy. The negotiation process for unity could be considered one of the most masterful works of high diplomacy in the 20th century.
In this case, Chancellor Angela Merkel, the Federal Government of Germany, and all the friendly German people, wish the Union Day!
