Kosovo ambassador to Washington, Brussels, Paris and Berlin, MPJ) keep silent

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora has yet to appoint any ambassador, though 13 of them -- political appointees -- were dismissed four months ago. In early September, the chairman of the Parliamentary Commission for Foreign Affairs and Diaspores from LVV ranks, Hakki Abazi, said the process of appointment of ambassadors is expected to end the following weeks.

Even after four weeks, however, there is no appointment.

And member of the Commission for Foreign Affairs and Diaspoons from PDK ranks Ariana Musliu-Sashi has criticised the whole process of appointing new ambassadors, saying that unless this process is going slowly, it is without transparency.

“Since the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora has lowered the level of representation at the level of a task force on 22 of its diplomatic missions, a mission has put the lock on, the selection process of new ambassadors is going very slowly and totally without transparency of”, Musliu-Shochi stressed in a proposal for Telegrafi.

The PDK MP said the Kosovo Parliament's Foreign Affairs Commission has only gone for consideration of five names out of 16 as much as it should.

As she said, “The legislation in force for the Foreign Service envisions that 50% of diplomatic mission chiefs must be among the career diplomats, and 50% will be named with political key”.

Of 32 diplomatic missions as far as the Republic of Kosovo has around the world, 16 should be led by career diplomats and 16 of those appointed with political keys. Meanwhile, the Parliament's Foreign Affairs Commission has received only five names from 16, as much as the rest, career diplomats, the President is nominated directly to”, the PDK deputy said.

She called the MPJD's inability not to propose 16 names for Kosovo ambassadors.

So, for four months, MPJD has not been able to find 16 people who could serve as extraordinary and powerful ambassadors of the Republic of Kosovo”, she said.

On the other hand, according to Musliu-Scheshi in the selection of career ambassadors, there is also a lack of transparency by the ministry's cabinet.

“In the selection of careers, there is a total lack of transparency by the minister's cabinet, which appears to have begun selecting ambassadors with the sole criterion of proximity with the ruling party, excluding the rest of the MPJD officials, who have the experience and proper professional preparation (4)x1> she said.

The member of the Commission for Foreign Affairs and Diaspoons from the PDK ranks said there is also uncertainty about appointed political Consuits.

A topic that we have no clarity on the part of the MPJD is also the work of the General Consorts, especially those who are political appointed. This topic has been raised many times by yesterday's opposition who is in power today, while now when we have electoral calculations, this topic is not being addressed at all”, she said.

Musliu-Scheshi said that “I don't think we should go on adventures to leave without our commanders and consular missions, when we already have no diplomatic commanders”.

“simply, as deputy of the Republic of Kosovo Assembly, simultaneously a member of the Commission for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, publicly ask the MPJD for the clear steps they will take in this direction. This, as their amateurism in dealing with our diplomatic missions and bilateral relations of the Republic of Kosovo with 23 states, leads me to precede this issue, and not to be taken by MPJD emails for the release of even the heads of consular missions”, she said.

PDK MP said she expects the decisions of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Minister Donika Grovalla to be well thought out.

For the end, I wish that the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspore would reflect and understand that the decisions she makes directly affect Kosovo's relations with her allies. So I also expect her decisions to be well thought out and with a concrete plan of action, not to leave room for vacuums like this in the case of ambassadors”, she stressed.

According to her, Minister Gervala would have to speak and clarify these subjects.

“While, it would be good for the minister to announce to us all these topics, whether in the Assembly, whether in the Commission, or even at a meeting at the MPJD wherever she is conveniating, as co-ordination of affairs is in the interest of the Republic of Kosovo and strengthening its” international subjectivity, Musliu Shoshi said.
