Jugoslav Jovanovic admitted he was part of an international gang of thieves who had robbed the villa in Kensington, 37-year-old Tamara Ecclestone, in what was considered the biggest robbery within the United Kingdom borders.
The daughter of former Formule 1, Bernie Ecclestone, was on vacation in Finland with her husband and daughter when jewelry and money worth 25 million pounds were stolen from her apartment in December 2019. Members of the same gang stole items worth 50,000 pounds from the home of the former Chelsea captain, Frank Lamp[ard, in London, as well as items worth 1 million pounds from the late Leiceter City owner's house, Vichai Srivadadha, who had returned as a mausoleum after his death in a helicopter incident in 2018. The police have managed to recover nothing of the goods and money seized in all three robberies and believe they were sent out of England.
24-year-old Jovanovic, from Milan, was extradited from Italy to England, where he will also undergo trial. But on Wednesday he accepted accusations of money laundering. The decision will be issued against him and his associates, Alessandro Malta, 45, Alessandro Donati, 44, also extradited to England. A fourth person, a gang member, identified as 40-year-old Daniel Vukovic, has never been caught and is believed to be hiding in Serbia.
In January, four Romanian citizens were acquitted of the robbery charge after the Court ruled that they were not part of the Slavic band.
