Supporting social services for children and adults with limited skills, creating access to them, including organisations of disabled persons in Pristina's processes and development plans, are the promises of the PDK candidate for the first of the capital, Ura Ismaili, which he pledged today on the occasion of his visit to HANDIOS.
In this case, Ismaili said that with the organisation of numerous activities to promote the rights of disabled people, 2022 will mark as a year of disabled persons.
After being informed by HANDIOS representatives, regarding the challenges and demands of disabled persons, he said that with him as chairman in the capital, there will be equal access for all citizens of Pristina.
Today we are in HANDICOS, where we have been contacted and asked to make our vows even in response to disabled persons, of course we have responded very positively knowing that it is fair for our citizens to have a free movement in the city, not to be subjected to difficulties, which then increase prejudice, even their emotional and physical state”, he said.
Candidate of The PDK for the municipal assembly, Fahri Krasniqi, thanked Ismaili and PDK for the opportunity given in order to represent the voice of disabled people.
“I had thanked PDK and Uranus, who have given me space as the voice of disabled people. I, as an activist, have been struggling in my life with the voice of disabled people, lobbiing for the rights of disabled persons, for freedom of movement, for rights like any other citizen,”, he said.
And HANDIKOS Director African Maliqi said they asked Ismaili for equal access based on human rights.
“We requested that access be based on human rights, asking for, as mentioned, free movement, creating transparency, but also supporting social services offered in this centre, which should be duty and responsibility for the Pristina municipality. This can be done through contracting and dealing between us and the municipality in the future”, Maliqi said.
