Faucie: Coronavirus may never disappear

This statement was made during a press conference in the White House on pandemic.

Giving a historical perspective, Dr. Fauci said that “has had only one human disease that has disappeared, and that's leaving. ”

He said that the world's “largest” is still “in certain directions in the pandemic phase”, but “is now seeing a drop in the rhythm” of new cases.

Fauci said health care experts “are trying for a degree of control of the virus that would allow us to be able to return to normality that we all look forward to”.

He stressed that an appropriate level of control can be achieved through vaccines for which he hopes eventually to reduce new daily cases to “less than 10,000. ”

Fauci noted that the US still has “around 66 million people who have the right to be vaccinated, who remain unexcused. ”

We're dealing with a situation where we have a very transmitted virus and 80 to 90,000 cases a day. We're not where we should be, he said.
