Energy crisis could affect Kosovo

The deputy head of the Kosovo Energy Corporation Union, Nedzat Llumnica, did not deny the possibility that Kosovo could enter an energy crisis, reports Online Economy. Llumnica told the Online Economy that in view of the energy crisis in the region, it is possible that KEDS will have problems with electricity supplies.

We as the Kosovo Energy Corporation, as representatives have seen that the corporation has enough capacity that it has always had, even though the power supply is mandatory. KEDS but we will fully produce as we produced earlier, and as employees we are committed to continue producing electricity with maximum commitment”.

He says this situation could be averted if the Kosovo government reviews the contract with KED.

“Seeing the current circumstances of the regional power crisis is likely that KEDS will not supply citizens with electricity because we have seen several times when KEK itself has not produced and Kosovo citizens have had extraordinary reductions, and that may not happen if the Kosovo government reviews the contract with KEDS because only united with Elektrocosova can we manage this energy crisis<x1.

This is the problem because KEK has a very symbolic power price. While KED as an economic operator has won almost half of the profit or more from producers and has made many other violations, I say that the much easier face will be if Elektrocosova returns to KEK”.

Finally, Llumnica said that all natural capacities and other resources should be exploited so that we do not have an energy crisis.

We actually have to use all our natural capacities and other resources so we don't have an energy crisis. Without electricity there is no economic development, no health, no education, no health, and no overall development”, he concluded.
