Elez: More than 18 thousand dead have left the voter list

The Central Election Commission has continued to clear the voter list. In this regard, a big deal has been done in recent elections, which have been held on February 14th. Since the last election process, the CEC has found a special method that serves the cleaning and accuracy of the voter list. From the pension department that operates within the Ministry of Labour and Social Management, we have accepted a database with the names of people who have left retirement schemes due to their deaths and CEC officials have appeared in the field and verified this data”, Elez said.

According to Elez, the process of verification on the ground is done through civil affairs offices in municipalities; local religious communities and through village representatives.

After the February 14th early elections, the number of people who have left the polls as dead is 18 thousand and 252. Most of them, 14 thousand and 81 names, have been removed from the voter list because they have left the same retirement schemes”, Elez suggested.

CEC spokesman Elezi also indicated that part of the voting list will not be even the people who have given up on the citizenship of the Republic of Kosovo. This number, only from after early elections on February 14, 2021, is 1,000 and 158 people.

Early in September, the Central Election Commission has certified the final voter list, which tells of the number of voters inside and outside Kosovo for Local Elections 2021. According to this list, which will be distributed at the polls, on October 17th, contains 1 million and 885 thousand and 448 voter names, while the number of citizens who have managed to register successfully as voters outside Kosovo is 15 thousand and 532 voters.

On election day in Kosovo, 883 polling stations will open, with a total of 2 thousand and 477 seats.
