The Pfizer vaccine / Bi·tetech vs. Coronavirus is also effective among teenagers, according to a new Israeli-American study, the largest ever in the world based on real data.
This is the most comprehensive assessment of the effectiveness of a Covid-19 vaccine and the first to address the last period in which the Delta version is dominant.
Researchers from the Research Institute “Calalit” and Harvard University, who published the study in “New England Journal of Medicine” examined the data on 94,354 vaccinated teenagers aged 12 to 18 between June and September 2021. Researchers compared an equal number of unaccivilized teenagers.
It was found that in fully vaccinated teenagers seven to 21 days after the second dosage, the risk of Covid-19 disease with symptoms decreased by 93% compared to their unaccompanied peers, while the risk of infection (although symptoms) declined by 90%.
But 14 to 20 days after the first dosage, the risk of Covid-19 symptoms was 57% lower in vaccinated persons, while the risk of infection was 59% lower than in teenagers unaccinciated.
There was not enough data to assess the risk reduction in patients vaccinated with serious co - associated diseases, lying in hospital and death, all of which are rare among teenagers.
The results of the study show convincing that a week after the second dose, this vaccine is very effective in teenagers against the symptoms, or any infection,” said Professor Ran Balitzer, director of the CIA Institute.
